FAQS

everything you need to know about our distillery, fantastic tasting spirits and more!

  • What exactly is a small batch?

    Small batch is exactly that.

It is a spirit that is distilled in small batches, this means that each batch is created with loving care and focus, with an emphasis on quality not quantity.

The industry giants are producing thousands of litres per day, whereas we are producing a fraction of this per week. These small batches allow us to let our spirits rest for up to four weeks so that our rich flavours can develop and marry together.

  • Are our prices competitive?

South Saxon Spirits sit within the artisan/craft spirit market and as such are produced on a small-batch scale. We are a small business and don’t see ourselves as a future mass-producer or trying to rival the big brands.

Unfortunately, this means our costs are higher as we don’t buy huge stocks of botanicals. The plus side is that our ingredients are always fresh and full of the oils and flavours that we strive to impart into each of our spirits. Our market research has shown that we are priced at the average prices of fellow artisan distillers.

So yes, as a small-batch distillery we are priced competitively in our market.

  • Do we use artificial flavourings?

Absolutely not, South Saxon Spirits infuse flavour from natural botanicals, fruits, herbs and spices.

We don’t add sugars to sweeten, colourings to make a drink attractive or glycerine to smooth the spirit on the palate.

Flavours and aromas are infused in our still’s column baskets which produces more subtle flavours, leaving a smooth finish on the palate. It also means that each of our gins are classified as London Dry Gins.

We have several recipes already finalised and ready to produce as Special Editions, however, we need to choose the perfect times for these to be released.

  • When will my order arrive?

Our national service is sent via Royal Mail 48hr second class and Signed For post. Generally speaking, your order will arrive in 2-3 days from dispatch, but 3-5 days is possible.

Thankfully, you order is tracked and you will receive a tracking code, but if you have not received your parcel within 5 days, please get in touch so we can help.
